Have you ever tried smoking? many people enjoy smoking but have you ever thought about the consequences of smoking, probably not. Here are some reasons why you shouldn’t smoke, Smoking is horrible because it harms you, other people, and kids too.

One reason smoking is horrible is that it can harm you! The CDP (Center for Disease and Prevention) has reported over 480,000 deaths a year from smoking. That means more than 14% of our population dies every year. On top of that The National Institute on Drug Abuse also reports that smoking can cause lung cancer, stroke, heart attacks, type 2 diabetes, and much more! Smoking can do a lot of damage to your body! 

Another reason smoking is horrible is because it harms other people. According to the article Stop Smoking, when you smoke it can harm others by giving them secondhand smoke. Breathing in fumes from cigarettes and other similar forms of tobacco is how people get second-hand smoke. On top of that The CDP (Center for Disease and Prevention) has reported over 41,000 deaths from secondhand smoke. That’s more people than the number of kids that go to your school! 

The final reason smoking is horrible is because it can harm kids. According to the CDP (Center for Disease and Prevention), 400 young children die from secondhand smoke each year from secondhand smoke. Young children’s lungs are not fully developed, so they are more vulnerable to secondhand smoke. The CDP has also reported that out of 5 high school students at least one will have tried smoking before. Think about it, that means that if you have a class with 30 kids in high school then over 6 kids in your class would be smokers! Smoking can also affect your grades. The National Institute on Drug Abuse reports that smoking can cause trouble paying attention, and sleep issues. Which can lead to you falling asleep in class and not properly learning the curriculum.

In conclusion, smoking is horrible because it harms you, other people, and kids!  Each year more and more people take on smoking every year. This is a growing problem in our society and we need your help! Stop smoking now and support our cause!
